What is Law-GAT?

Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT) is a test taken by HEC to evaluate the ability of law graduates in Pakistan. All the law students, who want to be part of law professionals are required to qualify HEC Law-GAT according to the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s orders of resumption.

Why HEC Law-GAT?

Supreme Court ordered to resume Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT) on March 6, 2018, by Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) through the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The main purposes of taking the Law-GAT test are:

  1. Proper scrutiny of law graduates
  2. Evaluation of professionalism
  3. To filter out the flux holding degrees not skills
  4. To assess basic knowledge of the law
  5. Allow students to participate in law practice

Hence, a law graduate only becomes eligible to apply to a bar council for enrollment as an advocate if he/she qualifies for the Law-GAT conducted by ETC-HEC.

Eligibility Criteria

Any candidate can apply for Law Graduate Assessment (Law-GAT) test if he/she:
