What is MDCAT?
MDCAT stand for Medical & Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT). If you’re confused about PMC, PMC is authority that is responsible to held & take MDCAT across the country. So, PMC-MDCAT is simply a MDCAT that is held by PMC. Now it is clear that MDCAT is a test held by Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) to assess the students applying for MBBS/BDS admissions so that only qualified students can join Medical & Dental Colleges to create talented doctors in Pakistan.
Why MDCAT?
MDCAT is a basic requirement to be eligible to apply for MBBS just like FSc Pre-Medical is required to get admission in MBBS/BDS. So, MDCAT is pre requisite to apply for admission in medical professional degrees i.e. MBBS/BDS admissions in Pakistan.
Eligibility Criteria for MDCAT
There is no specific criteria to appear for MDCAT test. General all the students who have studied Intermediate (FSc Pre-Medical) can appear in MDCAT if they have at least 65% Marks (As per PMC criteria for MBBS admission 2021).
MDCAT Syllabus, Pattern & Marks
MDCAT Syllabus provided every year by MDCAT taking authority i.e. PMC. Actually the syllabus is Complete FSc Pre-Medical course of Biology, Chemistry, Physics & specific topics of English along with analytical skills assessment. MDCAT is of 200 Marks.

Institutes accepting MDCAT
MDCAT is only valid for Medical & Dental Colleges Admission. All Medical & Dental Colleges in Pakistan are bound to accept MDCAT & they are required to create their merit lists by adding recommended weightage by PMC of MDCAT Marks. MDCAT can’t be used to take other type of admissions like Computer Science, Natural Sciences & other programs
